In Memory of Yeardley Love

This is slightly related and slightly unrelated to our blog, but I thought I would use it as a venue to get the word out.

Yeardley Reynolds Love was killed on May 3, 2010, and a fellow UVA student is being charged with her murder. This has been all over the news, so googling Yeardley Love will come up with a ton of hits, if you haven't heard of the case.

I went to high school with Yeardley. We went to a small, private, Catholic all-girls school, so while we were not close friends, we absolutely knew each other. Her death had an enormous impact on our class, our school, and the Baltimore community.

Yeardley loved athletics. She played lacrosse from the time she was a little girl, and also played field hockey. She went to University of Virginia to play lacrosse, as she always dreamed. She probably got a lot more enjoyment out of working out than I do :) The reason I found this appropriate for our blog is because Yeardley was the epitome of healthy living and taking care of the body you have.

In memory of Yards, her family has set up a fund in her honor to build a new turf field at our high school, since Yeardley's passion was athletics and she loved Notre Dame. Anyone interested in making a donation to the Yeardley Love Memorial Field fund can go here to find out more information.

Also, I received word from a close friend of Yeardley's today that they are selling "ONE LOVE" t-shirts for $25 to benefit the Yeardley Love Memorial Field fund. Anyone interested can contact me.

Yeardley has a beautiful soul and did not deserve what happened to her. However, her memory will live on at Notre Dame Prep and in the hearts of those who knew her.
